Shirley Shelton

I live and work in the picturesque rural county of Norfolk. I love my painting. It’s been in my blood since I was a child. Indeed I have always been captivated by so many aspects of the arts, but my great passion has to be painting.Due to my father being in the Royal Air Force we moved around quite a bit and I spent much of my early childhood living in Cyprus. I found changing schools so frequently very difficult, therefore my studies suffered academically but art was the one subject at which I always excelled. After settling down in Norfolk I took a foundation course in art & design at the College of West Anglia, Kings Lynn and then went on to train at the Norwich School of Art & Design. I love bold and vibrant colours and like to use both figurative and abstract techniques depending on the kind of mood or atmosphere I am trying to create. With a fascination for skies and sunsets, I like to experiment with new ways to reflect their colour and vibrancy, my other main influence is African design and culture.
