Beware of Art Scams.

Artists have recently been approached by fraudsters posing as art buyers. A recent example involved a person offering to send a cheque for artwork which includes the cost of the artwork and shipping. Once they receive the cheque the artist is expected to deduct the money for the artwork and then send the rest of the money to the buyer's 'shipping agent'.

In reality the cheque is worthless. The fraudster counts on the artist sending the money through to the bogus shipping agent before they are informed by the bank that the cheque cannot be honoured. Please do not send these people any money.
