Irish artist, Tom ORourke was born in Sligo Ireland. He moved to England in 1962 and studied Art and Design at the Hornsey and Maidstone Collages of Art. Between 1966 and 1994, he taught art on a part-time basis in London. Tom has been able to pursue his work on a full time basis since he left art teaching and returned to Ireland in 1997. In the same year, he was accepted to exhibit at the RHA annual open selection show and received an award from the Arts Council of Ireland. His work was selected for Iontas national small works exhibition and he has contributed to many group shows in England and Ireland. He continues to develop a body of work inspired by a loveĀ of traditionalĀ music and landscape . Teach Ban art gallery Tom has recently built an artist gallery as a modern extension to an old stone cottage in is home village of Drumcliffe, Sligo. The gallery exhibits the work of established artists and places special emphasis on cultivating emerging artists of any age.
