Thomas Clyde Thomas Clyde

I was born on the Fourth of July in the year 1973 in the county of Rock Wisconsin. I was born in my grandparent’s guest house in Beloit. My mother and father and older siblings lived in Cabery Illinois. My early childhood was brutal and insane, my father became mentally ill before my birth and was violent drugged up and a loose cannon. My mother was very passive and under his violent control while my siblings and I watched. After two younger brothers my mother moved to the other side of the three hundred and twenty five person town we lived in and my soon to be step father showed up. My mother quickly married him, the man that put a 357 magnum to the head of my real father and told him he was dead if he did not let us be. Then we moved to Texas where she was from. When I was enrolled in school in Texas I excelled at art and failed miserably in everything else. After moving many, many times I dropped out of high school and forgot about art for years. I was caught up in being social, which I never was in school. In my early 20’s I started to become drawn to art again. After a few oil paintings I was interested once again in being an artist for the rest of my life. In my late 20’s I went crazy myself, I was diagnosed as schizoaffective disorder and was told I would be on meds for the rest of my life. My work was good before I got sick, but after my illness, I broke through. In my 30’s I was selling work all over the United States online, but was in and out of mental institutions for years. I met a girl when I turned 33 and she nursed me back to health and gave me a reason to go on. Most of my best work was done for Tammy Felts, the first girl to show me what true love was. Tammy helped me establish myself as an artist and I ended up on the front page of the newspaper. After years of life with Tammy I moved on to California by myself. The deal that put me on the front page in Texas fell through and I gave up for a couple of years. At 35 I am back to painting everyday again and I need to paint more now than ever, it is what keeps me alive. Now I spend my days in sunny southern California painting every chance I get and that’s what I will do for the rest of my life. Thank you for your Interest in my art.
