I have a BA (Hons) in Printed Textile Design and worked freelance as a Textile Designer, selling designs in the UK and abroad. I then changed career direction and did an Msc in Social Work. I continue to paint part time (as much as I can with a 2 year old) and I just paint paint paint with any spare time I have!
My degree in textile design influences my paintings and I love painting bright designs, often with a quirky edge to them, sometimes featuring animals and birds. I think that a bright, quirky painting can make you smile and brighten up your home. I find the shapes of plants and flowers very beautiful and really enjoy taking close up photos of flowers and painting them. I've just recently moved to a house with a garden after living in a flat for years......I'm making good use of the garden for inspiration and think that paintings of flowers and plants can bring a bit of the beauty of the garden indoors to be enjoyed all year round. I also paint landscapes and (being a Scottish lass and slightly biased) I think the Scottish scenery is beautiful. I mainly paint landscapes from the east coast of Scotland, where I live or from holidays in the Isle of Skye and Outer Hebrides.
I like people to enjoy my art and if a customer would like a specific painting to suit them then I welcome commissions.
