You are here: Home / Artists / FREDERICK SEGAL
I was born in London in 1936 and spent my early years in Ireland and Oxford.
I come from a family of artists and I studied art in the Canary Islands where I held several one-man shows.
I have exhibited with Christies Contemporary Art and at the Hampstead Summer Exhibitions, and for over twenty years I held weekly one-man shows at St. James' Church. Piccadilly London as well as at the Green Park Arts and Crafts Exhibition in London. For several years I was the front page illustrator of the German literary review "Lesart".
As you can see, I paint a wide variety of subjects. A common characteristic of my work is the powerful colour that I use which I attribute to having the vivid light of the Canary islands embedded in my mind whenever I paint.
I use acrylic and watercolour paints, at times together with inks and pastel. My work is usually on Bockingford watercolour paper or on woven acrylic paper such as Galeria.
My art work painted over the years can be seen in my blog: www.segalpix.blogspot.com
