Anthony Paskell Anthony Paskell

Anthony Paskell began to paint and draw in the late 1960s and by the early 1970s he became a full-time artist. During this time he set up his studio in Dominionville, Ontario, Canada where the rural settings of Glengarry county provided his favorite subject matter. A fascination with the archaeology of Mesoamerica often brought him to Mexico and was the impetus for much of his artwork during the 1980s and 1990s. The watercolors, oils and drawings produced there portray not only famous ruin sites but scenes of typical street life as well. Often the artist has found much to paint while on family visits overseas. Glimpses of Old Cardiff , for example, is a studio series influenced by vintage photographs and childhood memories. His more recent works also include scenes from the Quebec Laurentians, many semi- abstracts, and a number of still life paintings. As of New Years Day 2008, the artist pledges 50% of all proceeds (after deduction of expenses) from the sale of his art-work over the internet, to help in some small measure in the fight against AIDS IN AFRICA.
